Our main property is called Quinta da Palmeira and is located in the sunny village of Ponta do Sol along the west coast and is situated between the popular towns of Ribeira Brava and Calheta.  

Ponta do Sol is about a 20 minute drive from the capital Funchal. The village has grown in popularity and reputation over recent years due to its pretty disposition and the fact that it is reputed to have the best weather, longest days of sunshine and fabulous sunsets.

 

Ponta do Sol has its own beach, recently revamped to provide a 'safe swimming' area, several bars and restaurants, two hotels, a small shopping centre, post office, pharmacy, school and medical centre. The village is steeped in tradition and maintains its rural appeal without over-developement encroaching on its beauty.

  Quinta da Palmeira is situated slightly above the village centre, sustaining views over the locality of Sao Caetano from the House's own Miradouro. Set in the agricultural part of the village, amenities such as the local restaurant, village shop, several small bars (taskas), shoe shop, bank, hair dressers and beauty salon are all a 2 minute walk from the property. This village is steeped in tradition and is a completley self sustaining area, with daily visits of the bread, meat, fish and fruit and vegetable vans where produce can be purchased, directly from the doorstep of the Quinta!

This locality is a well known agricultural neighbourhood, adorning the landscape around with Bananas, Grapes, Sugarcane, a variety of fruits and other crops.
